CMDCM Travis Brown

Master Chief Brown, a native of Walhalla, SC, enlisted in the United States Navy in August 1997. He completed Basic Training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, IL, Nuclear Field "A" School in Orlando, FL, and Basic Submarine School in Groton, CT. In September 1998, he reported to USS GEORGIA (SSBN 729) in Bangor, WA. He earned his Submarine Warfare Insignia in March 1999. He rose through the ranks where he achieved the rank of First Class Petty Officer.

In August 2003, he reported to Southwest Regional Maintenance Center in San Diego, CA where he served as a Planner for all submarine availabilities.

In November 2006 he reported to USS HENRY M. JACKSON (SSBN 730) in Bangor, WA where he served as Auxiliary Division Leading Petty Officer. He helped return the USS HENRY M. JACKSON (SSBN 730) to service following a Chief of Naval Operations availability. While onboard he was advanced to Chief Petty Officer.

In November 2009, he reported to USS KENTUCKY (SSBN 737) in Bangor, WA as Auxiliary Division Leading Chief Petty Officer. While onboard he led the ship through a rigorous preparation to begin Chief of Naval Operations availability. While onboard he was advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer.

In November 2012, he reported to Submarine Group 9 in Bangor, WA as the Senior Enlisted Leader where he led a staff of 73 Sailors and civilians.

In February 2016 he reported to USS NEBRASKA (SSBN 739) in Bangor, WA as Chief of the Boat. He led a crew of 340 sailors out of a 42 month Engineering Refuel Overhaul and back to strategic service. While onboard he was advanced to Master Chief Petty Officer and selected for the Command Master Chief Program.

In July 2019, he reported to Trident Refit Facility Bangor as the Command Master Chief leading 2000 Sailors and civilians in the maintenance and upkeep of 7 Ballistic Missile Submarines.

In May 2020, he reported to Submarine Squadron 19 as the Command Master Chief, with a staff of 40 Sailors and 9 submarine crews.

In June 2022 he reported to Naval Base Kitsap as the Command Master Chief. Naval Base Kitsap is the most dynamic homeport in the Navy.

Master Chief Brown's personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (3Awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4 awards), Good Conduct Medal (8 awards), Battle "E" and various unit awards.
