Bill Bulis graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in May 1990 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and earned his Naval Aviator wings in September 1993. Bill has deployed aboard several aircraft carriers in support of operations around the globe, most recently in 2010 as the Air Boss on USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75). He has logged over 2,800 military flight hours and 480 arrested landings on 11 different aircraft carriers flying the E2-C Hawkeye and T-45 Goshawk.
Bill commanded Naval Station Great Lakes (home of the U.S. Navy’s only boot camp and its largest training base), Naval Support Activity Lakehurst, N.J. and the “Red Hawks” of Training Squadron-21, where he was responsible for the advanced training of one quarter of the Navy and Marine Corps’ carrier strike pilots.
Ashore, Bill completed several staff tours, including one with the White House Military Office. He also served as a flight instructor and earned his Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies at the U.S. Naval War College.
Immediately after retiring from the Navy in 2017, Bill joined Tri-Tec Manufacturing, LLC, as Vice President and General Manager. Tri-Tec is an innovative, engineering-focused small business and manufacturer of components for both defense and commercial applications.
In 2019 Bill returned to flying full time as a First Officer with SkyWest Airlines logging 1,400 hours in the Embraer ERJ-175.
Bill returned to government service in June 2021, as the Deputy Director of Operations for Navy Region Northwest. As of Jan 2, 2022, Bill is serving as the Executive Director for Commander, Navy Region Northwest.
