Mission
The overarching purpose of the Navy Chaplain Corps, our 'why', is to build the Spiritual Readiness of warfighters and their families for the rigors of military service. In an era of rapid change and evolving threats, the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard need Sailors, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen who are "agile and adaptive. "Spiritual Readiness contributes to making the force and families more agile and adaptive, strong and resilient for the challenges we face.
The delivery of Religious Ministry is an inherently cooperative effort that not only includes Chaplains and Religious Program Specialists, but also civilian, military volunteers, and especially command triads.

Get Better Together (GBT) Couples Retreat
- November 6–8
Sleeping Lady Mountain Resort | Leavenworth, WA
The Get Better Together (GBT) program is a Department of Defense-funded randomized controlled trial evaluating one of the nation's leading relationship education programs for military couples.
After both spouses complete enrollment and baseline surveys, couples are randomly assigned to one of two groups:
🎉 50% of couples are selected to attend the in-person retreat at Sleeping Lady Mountain Resort in beautiful Leavenworth, Washington.
💻 50% are assigned to the comparison group, completing the same research surveys from home. This comparison group is essential to helping researchers determine the effectiveness of the program and improve future support for military families.
Couples selected for the retreat receive:
❤️ Research-based relationship education grounded in decades of marriage research
💬 Guided conversations that strengthen friendship, communication, and emotional connection
🌲 A relaxing weekend away from the demands of military life
🏨 Lodging and meals provided at no cost
💵 Financial compensation for completing study surveys (whether selected for the retreat or assigned to the comparison group)
By participating, couples not only invest in their own relationship but also contribute to research that has the potential to strengthen military marriage programs across the Department of Defense for years to come.

Green Ribbon Program
Be the Difference: Join the Green Ribbon Team!
Are you passionate about looking out for your shipmates and fostering a stronger, more resilient force? Then the Green Ribbon Program (GRP) is where you belong! The GRP is our very own base-wide mental health network at NAS Whidbey Island, created to build a community that champions mental well-being for every sailor. We are a dedicated team, trained to be the first line of support, ensuring that help is always within reach.
This program is vital because it transforms the way we approach mental health. Instead of scattered, individual efforts, we've created a powerful, unified network. As a member, you'll wear the "Green Ribbon" patch, a visible symbol that tells sailors you're a safe person to approach for support. You'll receive valuable training in suicide prevention, stress management, and self-care, empowering you to make a direct, positive impact in your unit. By joining us, you'll help crush the stigma around seeking help and become a crucial part of a team dedicated to the safety and well-being of our entire community.
Ready to step up and be a beacon of support for your peers? Let's talk about how you can join the Green Ribbon Program.
