Naval Station Everett (NSE) is the most modern shore installation in the U.S., and one of only two Navy-owned deep water ports on the continental west coast. Located along Possession Sound in Everett, Washington, it’s home to Navy surface ships and the command staffs of Commander, Carrier Strike Group 11 and Commander, Destroyer Squadron 9. It also supports Coast Guard vessels and Military Sealift Command supply vessels. Thousands of active and reserve military, as well as civil service personnel are assigned to NSE and its tenant commands.
NSE is also responsible for the following key Navy properties in Washington State:
• Navy Family Support Complex Smokey Point serves military personnel, retirees, and families who live in the region. It contains a Navy Exchange, Commissary, Fleet and Family Services, transient quarters, and lodging.
• Naval Radio Station Jim Creek maintains communication with submarines in the Pacific. The station is surrounded by a 5,000-acre Jim Creek Wilderness Recreation Area that includes a Navy protected old growth forest.
• Naval Facility Pacific Beach supports a training range for Navy aviators from Naval Air Station Whidbey Island and offers a recreation facility for Navy personnel.
• Other focused areas of operation include Acoustic Research Detachment in Bayview, Idaho and Naval Radio Transmitter Facility in LaMoure, North Dakota.
