NAVAL AIR STATION WHIDBEY ISLAND, Wash. – NAS Whidbey Island will host its annual open house for the public on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Ault Field from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Open House will include a 5K run around the flightline. Registration for the 5K will be at 8 a.m., with the run starting at 9 a.m. Charles Porter Gate will open at 7 a.m. for those participating in the 5K run.
If not participating in the 5K run, the flight line for all other visitors will open at 10 a.m. when the flight line opens for static displays of Growlers, P-8s, and SAR and exhibits. Aviation memorabilia will also be available for purchase as well as a variety of food and beverages.
Everyone over the age of 18 is required to have a photo ID. To gain entry, everyone must have Real ID Act compliant identifications for entry. Information on Real ID Act requirements are available here

Foreign national visitors may be able to attend the NAS Whidbey Island Open Base event; however, the process for gaining access is stricter and involves additional screening to ensure security protocols are maintained. Foreign national visitors from other Five Eyes countries (Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom) and Japan may be sponsored or escorted by a Department of Defense affiliated person with appropriate credentials (e.g., CAC, retired military, or dependent ID card holder). All other foreign national personnel attempting to attend the Open Base event will be subject to enhanced security screening procedures.
All guests must use the Charles Porter Ave. gate to enter the base where you'll be directed to parking.
Due to security measures, the following items are not allowed on the base: alcohol, bags larger than 12"x6"x12", backpacks, weapons (to include pocket knives), coolers, cameras with lenses exceeding 200mm zoom, camera tripods, cameras that can't fit in 12"x6"x12" bag while fully assembled, and pets.
Additionally, drugs or drug paraphernalia to include marijuana products are prohibited from the base. Permitted items will be strollers, diaper bags, small women's purses, wheelchairs, certified service dogs, bottled water, and small cameras.
