Captain Alexander Baerg is a native of Everett, Washington and graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.
Captain Baerg’s operational assignments include tours as Chemical and Radiological Controls Assistant and Tactical Systems Officer on USS GEORGIA (SSGN 729), Navigator on Advanced SEAL Delivery System (ASDS‐1), Engineer on USS LOUISVILLE (SSN 724) and Executive Officer on USS MAINE (SSBN 741). He commanded USS NEBRASKA (SSBN 739) where his crew was awarded the 2020 Pacific Fleet Arleigh Burke Trophy for their extraordinary improvement upon departing from a refueling overhaul.
Ashore, Captain Baerg served as the Operations Division Chief of the Nuclear Command, Control and Communications (NC3) Enterprise Center; on the staff of Submarine Squadron 17; Deputy Director of the Navy’s House of Representatives Congressional Liaison office; Squadron Engineer on the staff of Submarine Development Squadron 5; and with Naval Special Warfare Task Force – Arabian Peninsula. Captain Baerg currently serves as Executive Officer of Naval Base Kitsap, serving as the host command for the Navy’s fleet throughout the Pacific Northwest, providing exceptional installation services, programs, and facilities to meet the needs of its hosted war-fighting commands, tenant activities, and personnel.
His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), and various unit, service, and campaign awards. He is married to the former Nichole Faire of Ellensburg, WA and they have three children; Elizabeth, Matthew and Eleanor.
