About a hundred volunteers gathered trash along the Naval Station Everett shoreline on April 22, in celebration of Earth Day.

Sailors and civilian volunteers worked quickly and removed 145 pounds of refuse and 255 pounds of recycling, collecting a total of 400 pounds of material.

Removal of trash and derelict gear from the shoreline helps improve water quality and habitat for fish and wildlife.

Throughout the year, Naval Station Everett’s Natural Resources Management Program supports many restoration and environmental management projects such as invasive plant control, marine mammal monitoring, fish and marine mammal studies, and forestry management.
