Marriage Preparation and Couple's Counseling
Did you know, the average person spends more time studying for their driver's license than preparing to get married? Marriage preparation is one way to improve your relationship and builds a foundation that all relationships can use to improve. The chapel offers the following services to help improve your relationship:
Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program
Building Healthy Marriages! is based on PREP and the best-selling book “Fighting for Your Marriage”. This is a skill-based marriage enrichment and communication program designed to help make good marriages even better and to prepare engaged couples for a life-long happy marriage. And couples in need of a “tune-up” love this program. Couples who are having difficulties in their relationship also report great benefit from this outstanding seminar. (Couples in abusive relationships may not attend until treatment is completed.)
PREP occurs the last Wed and Thursday of every other month at no cost to the attendees. Contact the NASWI Chapel for more information.
Individual Counseling Sessions With A Chaplain
Although PREP is very successful, some couples desire individual sessions with a chaplain. Contact the NASWI Chapel to schedule an appointment.
Sometimes it may be uncomfortable talking to a chaplain. Our mission is to help you find the best resource available to meet . The below are just a few resources that many find useful:
Fleet and Family Readiness
Fleet and Family Readiness is your source for information on Navy life in the Pacific Northwest. Find information on Navy events, entertainment, fitness, sports, Fleet & Family Support Programs, child care, youth & teen programs, outdoor recreation, single sailor activities, housing, dining, Navy Gateway Inns & Suites, and much more.
Military One Source
Military OneSource is a free service provided by the Department of Defense to service members and their families to help with a broad range of concerns including money management, spouse employment and education, parenting and child care, relocation, deployment, reunion, and the particular concerns of families with special-needs members. They can also include more complex issues like relationships, stress, and grief. Services are available 24 hours a day — by telephone with professionally trained consultants and online. Many Military OneSource staff members have military experience (veterans, spouses, Guardsmen, Reservists), and all receive ongoing training on military matters and military lifestyle. The program can be especially helpful to service members and their families who live at a distance from installations.
Navy Marine Corps Relief Society
We are a private, non-profit, volunteer, service organization. As a Center of Excellence, we are committed to ensure that all available resources are used to assist personnel of the Naval Services - active, retired, and their eligible family members - to achieve financial self-sufficiency and find solutions to emergency needs
