GENERAL INFORMATION
 
 
(1) Navy Band Holiday Concert.
 
The Navy Band Northwest will be in Oak Harbor for their Holiday Concert Series December 17th at 3 p.m. at the Oak Harbor High School.  Don’t miss out on this upbeat rendition of the classics full of holiday cheer!
 
(2) Trees for Troops.
 
MWR is helping make the Holidays Special with Free Christmas Trees for our Navy Families. Brought to you by Trees For Troops and NAS Whidbey Island MWR. 
Trees will be distributed at the Convergence Zone. Call 360-257-2432 for more information.
 
Tree Pick-up Times:
Saturday, Dec. 9, 11-3 p.m., E6 Families & Below
Sunday, Dec. 10, 11-3 p.m.,  All Active Duty
Monday, Dec. 11,  11-3 p.m., All MWR Eligible Patrons
 
One tree per family. MWR does not provide tie-downs and will not be able to secure trees to vehicles. While supplies last.
 
 
(3) Fleet and Family Service Center Closure.
 
 The Nor’Wester (Fleet & Family Support center, Housing, Personal Property) will close at 1400 December 14 and reopen at 0730 15 December.
 
 
(4) Light Up Your Holiday.
 
Light Up Your Holiday at the Admiralty Head Lighthouse December 9 from 4 to 7 p.m.
 
There will be holiday music, Christmas Lights, roasted marshmallows, children’s activities, scavenger hunt and pictures with Santa!

(5) Personal Growth Retreat.
 
CNRNW CREDO is offering Personal Growth Retreats that address key drivers of destructive behaviors by building capacity for health and wellness – mental, emotional, relational, and spiritual.  These retreats utilize evidence-based modalities, active learning, and effective group process to deliver a positive impact for your Sailors.  Primary learnings include developing a sense of purpose, improving connection, and learning emotional regulation and problem-solving techniques.  Our process is to make the learning fun so that participants are more willing and so that learnings are remembered.  Sailors attending these retreats is an investment in individual and unit readiness with proven results!
 
-              The first retreat is scheduled for 17-18 JAN.
-              The second retreat is scheduled for 22-23 MAY. 
 
This is a two-day, overnight retreat at a local camp and conference center.  Excellent food and accommodations are provided at ZERO cost to the participant or to the command.  These retreats are recommended for service members E-5 and below.  Space is limited and advance registration is required.

(2) Habitat for Humanity Operation Homefront Build.
 
Habitat for Humanity is launching a special campaign called "Operation Homefront Build," which aims to encourage local military members to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and contribute to the betterment of our community. The campaign is already set up on their website, and military members can easily sign up to volunteer for various shifts.
 
This campaign will take place every Saturday from December 9th-January 27th minus the 30th of December.
 
Here are some key details about the campaign:
 
Campaign Details: "Operation Homefront Build" is designed to recognize and appreciate the efforts of military members who choose to volunteer their time with us. This campaign will be all construction over at 984 Ely Street Oak Harbor WA 98277.
 
Website Registration: Interested individuals can sign up for volunteer opportunities directly on our website https://www.islandcountyhabitat.org/volunteer/volunteer-shifts/ . The process is simple, and we have a dedicated section for "Operation Homefront Build."
 
Waived Volunteer Orientation: In recognition of the unique commitments of military members, we are waiving the volunteer orientation requirement specifically for those participating in this campaign.
 
Command Involvement: We welcome participation from multiple commands. There will be a special award ceremony to honor either the individual volunteer or the command that contributes the most hours during this campaign.
 
 
(3) Anacortes Lacrosse Club Volunteer.
 
Did you play high school or collegiate lacrosse? Are you looking to get more involved in the local lacrosse community? Anacortes Lacrosse Club is looking for coaches and assistant coaches for youth girls for the upcoming Spring '24 season.
