Transition to DOD Alter Mass Warning and Notification System

The Navy is transitioning to the DOD Alert! Mass Warning and Notification System, which officially replaces the legacy AtHoc alerting system. In accordance with DODI 6055.17, registration and profile updates in the new system are mandatory for all personnel.

This system will be the primary method for mass warnings and notifications at the installations. To ensure you receive critical alerts, you must complete the following actions:
  1. Update Your Contact Information
Log in to the Alert! Client Dashboard (https://dod.alert.mil) and add the following to your profile:
  • Emails: Home (personal) and Work (official)
  • Phones: Home (personal) and Teams/Work phone(s)
  • Note: For all text-capable phones, you must check the "Receives Text Messages" radio button to enable text alerts.

  1. Add/Update Your Associations
  • Military Location: Add/update the location where you support the USN.
  • Army/USMC Installations: If you work at a U.S. Army or USMC installation, add that location as well.
  • IMPORTANT: Do NOT add your Command Structure (UIC) or Additional Attributes at this time. Further instructions for this will be provided in Q4 FY26.

Need Assistance?
If you have any trouble with this process, you can contact the Alert! 24/7 Helpdesk:
Please complete these steps as soon as possible to maintain 100% accountability and ensure you receive time-sensitive information.

TIPS TO KEEP YOUR HOME SAFE

•           Lock and Secure: Lock all doors and windows, including the garage, even when at home.
•           Security Systems: Utilize portable, non-permanent security systems (e.g., SimpliSafe) that do not require drilling or wiring
•           Lighting: Ensure exterior lights work; install motion-activated lights.
•           Mail Security: Shred documents showing name or rank; remove names from mailboxes.
•           Vacant Home Care: Arrange for lawn care during deployments/Vacations to avoid the appearance of a vacant home.

STAY SAFE OUT THERE!

•           As the weather warms up, it’s time to be extra mindful of the children and cyclists sharing our streets. Here is your quick guide to a safer summer on the road:
•           DRIVE SOBER: Always designate a driver or use a rideshare service; even one drink can impair your judgment and reaction time.
•           PAY ATTENTION TO THE ROAD: Put the phone away and eliminate distractions to ensure your eyes—and your focus—stay on the path ahead.
•           OBEY SPEED LIMITS: Follow posted signs strictly, as lower speeds are essential for reacting to unpredictable movements in residential areas.
•           SHARE THE ROAD RESPONSIBLY: Give cyclists at least three feet of space when passing and always double-check your blind spots.
•           BE AWARE OF ROAD CONSTRUCTION: Slow down in work zones and stay alert for flaggers, as traffic patterns can change daily during the summer.
•           TALK TO TEEN DRIVERS: Discuss the specific risks of summer driving with your teens, emphasizing the importance of seatbelts and limiting passengers.
•           IT’S ANONYMOUS: NCIS tip line, reward up to $1,000 for information leading to felony arrest, recovery of drugs or stolen property.
•           TEXT: 274637 (CRIMES)
